Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor
I was born and raised in Williamsville, NY. As a child, I kept myself busy playing soccer, swimming competitively in the summer and skiing in the winter. I come from a healthy-minded family and have always thought of being active as a part of life.
It was not until high school did I find my real niche, rowing. I loved the combination of the calmness of being on the water versus the intense physical demands of the sport. I continued to row in college and there I became the most recent founder of the Women’s Crew team. It was also during college when I embarked on a 75-day journey through the Australian outback with a school called NOLS. I gained many valuable life tools and leadership skills through my experience in team sports and in the outdoors.
When I returned from Australia, I started to practice Bikram Yoga more regularly. Then I started to practice everyday. Then I really started to change! With a consistent practice, I have increased my strength and flexibility, lost weight and increased muscle tone. And those are just a few of the physical benefits! From an emotional and mental aspect, I have significantly less stress, and have cleared my head of the painful migraine headaches that used to affect my life greatly. I am happy to say that I no longer take any medication for my migraines. Through yoga, I have become more aware of my body and how to fuel it in order to feel my best.
Bikram Yoga has formed a permanent smile on my face. It is the only activity where I have experienced such a dramatic change in my overall well-being. Practicing Bikram Yoga requires 5 mental qualities: Faith, Self-Control, Determination, Concentration and Patience. I find myself to be a more positive and balanced person by incorporating these attributes in my daily life.
