Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor
I was born in Lockport, NY. I moved to Boston, MA after completing my BS in education, teaching Grade 5, until having my two children, Jack and Emma. After a five week Cross Country trip, my husband and I decided to move back to our hometown area with our children. At the time, I was doing a lot of competitive running. My training often included running with a double baby jogger, which caused a lot of injury to my knees and hips, resulting in not being able to complete even a one mile run. In addition, my stress level was quite high, with two babies, my husband’s new business and trying to transition back home after being gone for so long. Luckily, I found Bikram Yoga. At the time, I went to relieve the physical pain that I was experiencing. Within six months, I was back to my regular runs, was less stressed, laughing more often and slimming down.
One evening, following class, just barely six months into my practice, I called home, asking my husband what he thought about me going to training in LA for nine weeks. Our children at the time were 3 and 4 and training was just four days away. He said to go for it, and I did. I have found so much healing and strength through my practice of Bikram Yoga. It has opened up so much for me. So much that I have been able to give back.
I look forward to encouraging others to “go for it”. It is truly the one best thing I have done in my life because it has positively affected myself, my marriage, and my children which has only led to greater things beyond even my own family.
