Becky Moda
Certified Bikram Yoga Instructor
I took my first Bikram yoga class four years ago. I had no idea what I was in for. My friend who dragged me there told me everything she knew from her experience of practicing yoga along with the directions I got from the teacher before entering the studio. I remember everything about that class from the extremely energetic teacher from Denver. How I got to there, how nervous I was, how I didn’t have the right clothes on, how hot I was and most importantly how fantastic I felt the next day. I woke up feeling like I hit the reset button on my body. I was refreshed so much so it seemed I had new blood literally. Four years later, I would describe this feeling as essential to living a healthy balanced lifestyle that includes emotional and mental health.
Before I started to practice Bikram’s class regularly between college, work and friends I made no time to truly relax. Now I just do everything a little better, I am stronger, younger and happier than I have ever been. Through continuity of practice I have even found that I am no longer using my asthma medications- which I have been taking since I can remember. It has been easier to make healthy choices in my life. If I am traveling I make a point to take Bikram’s class where ever it is available. Yoga has become as essential to my life as sleeping or eating. I’ll never go through life without it again.
